What is GUIP?

The Global University Immersion Programme (GUIP) is a short-term educational immersion programme in Singapore. It offers students an experiential learning experience at the university campus alongside seminars and workshops on admissions to global Ivy Leagues. In addition, there will also be campus tours of Yale-NUS and NTU, Singapore. Some of the masterclasses include learning about college profiling and higher education options to explore studying in Singapore.

 

The programme is conducted in association with National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU).

Where are the sessions conducted?

  • Classroom sessions: At the university
  • Industry Expert Sessions: In the university or, in a conference hall outside the university
  • Industry Visit: At the respective Industry venue. Please note some industries have exclusive visitor centres and guided tours
  • Field Work: At a popular location with local footfall (for eg: a mall, shopping street etc.)
  • Project Presentation: At the university

Do I need to carry a laptop?

Yes, laptop is mandatory

Can I meet with the professor(s) on my own?

Participants may independently, on their own initiative meet Professor(s) with prior appointment. Corporate Gurukul’s participation or GUIP should nowhere be mentioned for such interactions are outside the scope of GUIP.

Where do we stay in Singapore?

Your place of stay and flight schedule and daily itinerary is decided in consultation with your faculty coordinator. They will inform you about the same.

How much time does it take during the immigration?

The immigration process takes typically 2-3 minutes per individual.

What are the documents that I need to carry for Immigration process?

You will be required to show your passport, boarding pass and E-Visa to the immigration officer. They might ask for additional supporting documents as below. Please carry the following documents along with one set of photocopy (mandatory):

  • Passport
  • Visa Invite Letter
  • E-Visa
  • Personal Travel Insurance (if applied)
  • 2 nos. of passport size photograph

Is there any travel checklist?

  • Laptop (and charger) with mentioned specs:
  • SIN $500 Card/International Credit Card for personal expenses
  • SIN $30-SIN $50 for SIM Card and international Calling
  • Travel adapter for Singapore. Buy here.
  • Mobile phone with charger
  • Bathing Towel with preferred soap and shampoo
  • Bedsheet (2 Nos.)
  • Digital Camera
  • Foldable Umbrella (it rains anytime/ any day in Singapore)
  • Hair-cut and personal grooming (it costs 5 times that of India)
  • Water Bottle
  • Medical Kit (if applicable).Prescription is required for drugs administered for specific illness. You do not require a prescription for Over the Counter (OTC) drugs.
  • Indian/ Western formals for trainings sessions and meetings

  • You can wear smart casuals during sessions unless specifically asked to wear formals.
  • Smart casuals include jeans, t-shirts, shirts, trousers, kurtis (for girls).
  • Please do not wear shorts and slippers to class.

What if I fall sick or meet with an accident?

Your travel insurance policy should cover all charges incurred for medical expenses. Please read all scheme related documents carefully for inclusions and exclusions. Corporate Gurukul will not be responsible for any personal expenses made which are covered or not covered by your insurance policy. Also, make sure you travel with enough money for emergency.

Who do I contact during emergency in Singapore?

Corporate Gurukul Programme Manager(s) typically stay in the same hostel as you. You can approach them for any help. Their details will be shared with you during orientation.

What kind of food do I get in Singapore?

Vegetarian, as well as non-vegetarian food is easily available inside and outside university campus. There is a wide range of choice amongst Indian, Chinese, European, Malay, Thai, Vietnamese and Indonesian cuisines. Typically, 3 meals in a day should cost you between S$18 - S$25. However, the estimate may vary as per your dining choices.
